if you’re an exvangelical or you’re deconstructing, it’s probably a safe guess that you’ve been burned by the church…
your favorite Bible verses have been used against you like weapons
the people you respected so much and thought so highly of have betrayed and disappointed you
you’ve been gaslit, taught that you can’t trust your own instincts (maybe because “the heart is deceitful”??)
some of the teachings about purity have really messed with your relationship with your own body
you’re not sure what to believe, or who you can trust
you’ve gone without mental health support for so long, because you were taught that Jesus should be enough for you, and that if you pray and believe in the right way, you’ll be healed - so it’s your own fault, if you’re still suffering
maybe you’ve even lost your entire community of support in the midst of this spiritual trauma
You crave…
a safe, nonjudgmental place to sort through your beliefs, where you can deconstruct, reconstruct, and everything in between.
help grappling and getting perspective, after so much confusion.
support removing the wedge that’s been shoved between you and your gut instincts.
help dismantling the heavy shame that’s been put on your exhausted shoulders.
to find a way to be yourself fully, in all aspects of your being, including your spirituality, reclaiming your authentic self.
Religious trauma is trauma, and we take it seriously.
We aren’t here to tell you what to believe. We’re here to help you explore and discover what you want to keep, what to adopt, and what to let go of in your spiritual life and practice going forward.
Are we the right fit for you?
There is no judgment here. Period.
We hold onto hope for healing, even when you can’t access any hope for yourself.
We draw from research-supported approaches like ACT, IFS, RCT, and EMDR.
We raise awareness of the social and cultural systems impacting you, both inside and outside of your religious background.
We have done the work to educate and equip ourselves for this important process, and we have all the letters after our name to prove it.
In addition to the necessary grad school and licensure preparation, we have also completed additional training in trauma treatment, and we continue to learn!
We also bring our own lived experience with Christian culture to the therapy space, so you don’t have to feel like you have to educate your therapist.
